Before recommending a dental bridge, a dentist first needs to carefully assess whether a patient's adjacent teeth are compatible with its placement. Depending on the case, the dentist may need to change the size of the adjacent teeth to accommodate the dental bridge. Once the two crowns are attached to the abutment teeth, the dental bridge is fixed in the gap. In most cases, the procedure of placing metal or porcelain dental bridges is permanent.
