After completing his diploma in Dentistry (DDS) in 1996, Ahmed worked as a general dental practitioner for about 6 years in both hospital and practice environment. During this period, he gained a wide experience in different fields including Oral Surgery, Restorative Dentistry, and Paediatric Dentistry.
Thereafter, Ahmed completed 2 years training in paediatric dentistry at Leeds Dental institute and was awarded a Master in Dental Sciences in Paediatric Dentistry degree (2004).In addition, hebecame a member of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (2004) and gained the Membership of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Paediatric Dentistry (2008). This was followed by completion of a PhD degree in dentistry (2009), which was on tooth erosion.
Ahmed worked as a clinical tutor in Paediatric Dentistry at Leeds Dental Institute between 2008 and 2010 and completed a Certificate in Education, which awarded him an associate fellow status of the Academy of Higher Education. Healso worked in Leeds accepting NHS and Private referrals in Paediatric Dentistry (2008-2013).
In September 2010, I joined University of Bristol as academic clinical lecturer in Orthodontic, which is a four-year programme to complete the training in Orthodontics.Ahmed has beenawarded the membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.He is due to complete a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in Orthodontics as well as will be registered specialist in Orthodonticsby the end of September 2014.
Ahmed aims to provide treatment for children less than 16 years of age who require restorative and minor-surgical treatment. This involves children with dentoalveolar injuries (trauma to teeth), both permanent and primary dentition. Ahmed has main interest in treating anxious children and helping them accept dentistry as well as providing preventative care to achieve high standards oral health. In addition, Ahmed enjoys providing orthodontic treatment for children and adults.
Ahmedhas a number of publications and he is on the review panels of a number of Scientific Dental Journals such as Archives of Paediatric Dentistry, International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry, and Archives of Oral Biology.
Outside of dentistry, Ahmed has a small family. He is very passionate about football, cinema, and travelling.
