What are dermal fillers and do we provide them?

Aside from our usual dental treatments, we also offer dermal fillers W1, which can be a great help if you want to rejuvenate the look of your skin. At Harley Street Dental Clinic, our team takes pride in delivering this treatment to a very high standard for our patients, so you’re sure to be in great hands.

dermal-fillers-w1

Why get them?

Dermal fillers W1 are a really good way to brighten up your face. If you’re feeling down about the look of your skin, then this can really help to soften and brighten it. Unfortunately, as you age, your skin does too and it can become loose, which is due to your face losing something called subcutaneous fat. When this happens, your facial muscles are working closer to the skin and that’s what causes more wrinkles and lines. Fillers can really help to improve this, and in turn, boost your confidence. As well as smoothing out wrinkles, fillers can also help to plump thin lips, improve the appearance of recessed scars and more.

How do they work?

Before we proceed with the treatment, we will first have a meeting with you. We do this so that we can have a chat and get to know you and what you want from the treatment. We will determine whether dermal fillers W1 will provide the right treatment for you, and if we agree, we can begin the procedure.

To start with, we will first provide you with a local anaesthetic. This will help to numb the area and minimise discomfort throughout. We will then inject the filler into the desired areas, which will only take us a few minutes. Once this is done, you will be able to see the difference immediately, which is very exciting for our patients! How long the filler lasts depends on your skin type, injection technique and the area that was treated, but generally it varies from between 6 to 12 months. If you want to maintain your new, smoother skin, you can arrange follow up appointments with us.

What are the benefits?

Smoother skin

The obvious, main benefit that comes from this treatment is seeing the results. It can really get you down when you look in the mirror and don’t like the look of your skin, and it’s been really nice for our patients knowing we provide a treatment that can help this. As you already know, we mainly deliver it to help smooth out any lines and wrinkles our patients have, and it’s proven to be very effective in doing so.

Non-surgical

Another benefit that comes with this treatment is that there are no surgeries required. This is good if you are someone who gets nervous about having invasive surgeries. As mentioned above, it only takes a few minutes to inject the filler, so it’s a super quick and simple process.

Minimal pain

Something our patients have mentioned to us is about how little the procedure hurts. By using local anaesthetic beforehand, you will barely feel it when we inject the filler. If you’re someone who gets nervous coming to the practice for treatments, this is great to hear.

Dental implants Harley Street: filling the gaps in your life

Missing teeth can be unsightly; they can be upsetting, they can make your speech less clear and they can lead to you having a sunken face, which can age you. Missing teeth can also expose any remaining healthy teeth and gums to bacteria, which can lead to further complications. Basically, missing teeth can cast a shadow over numerous areas of life. At Harley Dental Street Clinic, we understand that the thought of replacing missing teeth can be off-putting to some people when faced with the prospect of traditional methods such as dentures. Thankfully, dentistry has moved on from the days of loose fitting dentures and the moments of embarrassment which can accompany them. With dental implants Harley Street, we can offer an effective, reliable and comfortable solution to replacing missing teeth that is functional and aesthetically pleasing.

dental-implants-harley-street

What are dental implants Harley Street?

If you don’t want your replacement teeth going anywhere when you talk and eat, then what better way to prevent that than attaching them to your jawbone? With dental implants, we fix titanium screws to your jawbone and these bond with your bone and surrounding tissues. Once bonded, we can then attach replacement tooth options of crowns, bridges or dentures, depending on how many teeth you need to replace. The result is that none of these replacement teeth will be going anywhere as they are secure.

Why should I choose dental implants?

While this treatment may not suit everybody’s individual needs, if it is recommended that you consider dental implants Harley Street, then there are a lot of reasons why you should. The replacement teeth will be made to complement any remaining natural teeth that you have. They will be made uniform and similar in shade, so you don’t have to worry about anyone thinking that you don’t have your natural teeth. What’s more, we can also assure you that your implants are easy to care for: simply brush and floss as normal, twice daily, and come and see us for your routine dental check-ups. If you do this, you could find that your implants last you a lifetime!

Once you have your implants fitted, a further bonus is that you are protecting any remaining teeth you have. Furthermore, you are also adding structure back into your face, so you could find that your general appearance is more youthful, which isn’t a bad reason to plump for implants! What’s more, if you have experienced issues with speech, this could also be alleviated with a complete smile. In addition, you will be able to eat and drink whatever you want and your implants shouldn’t loosen.

How do I get implants?

If you are considering implants, why not book in for an initial consultation with us here at Harley Dental Street Clinic? We will be able to examine your mouth thoroughly and discuss your concerns, as well as the treatments we can offer. Together, we can decide upon the best treatment plan for your specific needs. If you choose to go ahead with dental implants, we can fill the gaps in your smile to make you feel complete!

Can our dentist help in a dental emergency?

If you are struggling with a dental emergency, then don’t hesitate to contact us as soon as possible for an appointment. It can be a really stressful and painful experience, and we will do all we can to help you during the first appointment.

dentist-w1

What is a dental emergency and how can we help?

You may be wondering what problems are classed as a dental emergency, and want to know how we can help you when going through them. No matter what the issue is, if you are experiencing intense pain and/or discomfort, don’t ignore it as it could quickly worsen. Our team is highly trained to deal with any issue you may have with your teeth, so you will be in great hands.

Toothache

The first type of dental emergency that we can help to treat is toothache. A large number of people will experience this in their lifetime, for a multitude of reasons. We highly recommend that if your toothache doesn’t go away within 2 days, then you should book an appointment with our dentist W1. It could be caused by an underlying problem that you aren’t aware of, and therefore could worsen. Some of the things that can cause toothache include gum disease, a cracked tooth, a dental abscess, or an infection.

When you come into our practice for an emergency appointment with toothache, we will first try to relieve your pain as much as possible to minimise discomfort during the appointment. After this, we will examine your mouth to try and find out what’s causing the issue. Depending on what the problem is, we will hopefully be able to treat it there and then. If we can’t do this, we will set up a treatment plan for you to help resolve the issue.

Cracked or damaged tooth

If you have had an accident and have damaged your tooth, it’s important that you are seen by our dentist W1 as soon as possible. If you leave a damaged tooth untreated, it can get infected and weaken even further. When you come in, we will do the best we can to fix your tooth, usually through the use of fillings or bonding. If the tooth is severely damaged and is beyond repair, we may need to extract it. A tooth extraction is a routine procedure that we provide regularly, so it is done as efficiently as possible to minimise your discomfort. If you do need an extraction after damaging your tooth, we can provide you with a replacement at a later date such as a dental implant.

Knocked out tooth

Knocking your tooth out can be a painful and uncomfortable experience, and also put the surrounding teeth at risk. When you are attending the appointment with our dentist W1, the first thing we will do is clean the area and get rid of any fragments that may be left to reduce the risk of infection. In some cases, if the patient has managed to save the tooth and it’s in good condition, we can reattach it. If you haven’t managed to save it, we will be able to replace it for you in the future.

Root canal treatment- Wisdom teeth

A wise man once said- “ouch what is the point of these extra teeth in my head!” or something along those lines. Third molars are a challenge to popular wisdom and the running theory as to why they are there at all is as a replacement for lost teeth, which can occur over time.

Almost like a double adult tooth, third molars are teeth that you receive as your body has made the assumption that, throughout the wearing tear of life, you will have probably lost a couple of molars and there will be plenty of room for them to move into the vacant space.

Modernity along with improving life spans and general health, modernity has been very good, allowing people to keep their teeth throughout their adult lives. Resulting in a mouth with little room for the extra teeth and occasionally requiring endodontic wisdom teeth Harley Street intervention.

The extraction exception

There is a bit of a bias among dentists to do their best to save teeth. In relation to treatment for underlying abscesses the extraction option has always been there, but root canals are favoured. They result in a root treated tooth which should last as long as any other if well cared for, as well as resolving the underlying abscess in the fast majority of cases.

Third molars are usually the exception to this rule. They can have an exceptionally complicated root system; molars usually have two and front teeth, one, but third molars range between 2 and 6, depending on ethnicity. Their location at the rear of the mouth makes cleaning and widening each of these roots challenging, not to mention that these roots are usually highly covered and somewhat impacted in very limited space. In short, any wisdom teeth Harley Street procedure is highly likely to be challenging.

Going the distance

We go the extra distance and will carry out wisdom teeth Harley Street treatments.

But root canals usually follow a certain process, with the degree of variation; this variation occurs when it comes to third molars. And, as is the way for such an extreme treatment, it always has to start with a full set of X-rays and an extensive exploration of the problem to see how we could go about cleaning the extensive root system.

Most root canals are performed over 2 sessions; this is simply due to the length of the procedure, although in such complicated cases this can be extended up to three. In between each of these sessions, an antiseptic solution will be placed inside the tooth and a temporary cap on the access hole. These cleaning solutions will slowly percolate the dentin of the tooth, aiding in the cleaning process and reducing the chances of abscess recurrence.

We do accept referrals from other dentists if your provider has stated that the treatment is too complicated for the clinic.  If you think you could benefit from our expertise, please feel free to get in contact with the clinic. We are currently accepting new patients at this time and would be happy to hear from you.

Are you looking for a dentist on Harley Street?

When you’re looking for a dentist Harley Street, at our practice we know that you don’t want to have to go anywhere else for more specialised treatment if the need should ever arise. That’s why we offer a wide range of treatments to suit all dental needs and we even offer facial aesthetics treatments too! Our dentist Harley Street can cater for you and the whole family. With a professional and vastly experienced team, we put our patients at the centre of all that we do and we aim to provide high-quality care with modern dentistry to suit your individual needs. One of our most popular treatments for correcting misaligned teeth is Invisalign.

dentist-harley-street

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a treatment that consists of aligners that are worn over the teeth to push them into their desired positioning over a period of time, usually ranging from 6 to 18 months depending on your specific needs. The aligners are transparent so that when they are worn, they can’t be seen and only your teeth will show through. The aligners are removable allowing for maximum comfort and convenience, as well as discretion. The aligners are also custom-made to fit your mouth with precision, which means that you should be able to avoid the discomfort that can sometimes be felt with alternative treatment methods.

How are the aligners custom-fitted to my mouth?

Using iTero technology, here at our clinic, we will take a digital scan of your mouth and from this we will have the measurements required to send to the laboratories for your aligners to be manufactured. We will also be able to generate a 3D animation of how your teeth will appear after the treatment has been completed before you get started, which can be a really great motivational factor to encourage wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours a day!

What else do I need to know about Invisalign?

As the aligners may be removed for up to 2 hours a day, it means that you don’t need to wear them when you are eating and drinking, so you won’t have to clean them up after meals. You will also be able to brush and floss as normal, avoiding any increased risk of dental complications as a result of not being able to do so. This can sometimes happen with other treatments such as fixed metal braces – it can be hard to clean properly around wires and brackets! You should also find that the aligners are much less easy to break, fixed braces can be prone to accident with their delicate wires and brackets. Which means that you shouldn’t need to have as much time off work or school to come and see us for emergency appointments.

A further consideration about Invisalign is the fact that improving the appearance of your teeth should also improve your self-esteem. Once you have the beautiful smile you’ve dreamt about, you will want to show it at every given opportunity.

To find out if Invisalign is the right treatment for you, simply book in for a consultation with our dentist Harley Street. We will examine your mouth and discuss the treatment options with you, and you can ask any questions you need to. Together, we will find a way to get you the beautiful smile you’re after. If it isn’t realignment you need, we’ve got a whole range of treatments to ensure that you and your smile are working together in harmony.

Lip fillers; common questions answered by Harley Street

Are you eager to have your face rejuvenated without spending a fortune on creams? Are you looking for a way to refresh your appearance, but don’t want the hassle of surgery?

lip-fillers-harley-street

If so, you may be a suitable candidate for dermal fillers, especially if you are looking for a simple way to plump your lips!

At Harley Street Dental Clinic, we can offer you a myriad of different non-surgical facial aesthetics, with one of our most popular being lip fillers Harley Street. These simple injections can be performed during your lunch break, allowing you to return to work looking radiant and natural. Great!

But if you have never had lip fillers Harley Street before, you will probably have some questions. Here, our team answers the most common ones we receive.

What is in a dermal filler?

Lip fillers Harley Street are, in essence, dermal fillers that are injected into your lips.

And at our practice, the types of dermal fillers that we use are composed of hyaluronic acid. We use a man-made protein that resembles the natural hyaluronic acid that your body produces; when it is injected under the skin, it can minimise the appearance of fine lines and will also plump the skin, creating a firmer, fuller appearance.

This substance dissolves over time, allowing it to give a more natural appearance and, as you may have considered, because it is a synthetic compound similar to the naturally-occurring one, the chances of you developing an allergic reaction to it are minimal to none.

What happens when you get dermal fillers in your lips?

When you come to us to have fillers in your lips, we will invite you to a consultation; at this, we will discuss the risks, your health and whether you are a suitable candidate for treatment.

If this all goes well, we will invite you back to have them injected; we may apply a numbing gel to your lips if you want us to, but in most cases, this is not necessary as the injections are minimal and the needles are very thin.

After they have been injected, you may have some minor bruising or swelling, which should resolve in a few days on its own. Avoid consuming alcohol, sunbathing, tanning beds or massaging your lips for a minimum of 1 day after receiving these injections.

How long do they last?

Fillers in the lips last on average around 4-6 months.

But these results may vary and will depend on factors such as your age when you first received them, your metabolism, and of course, how much filler was injected.

Can anyone have fillers in their lips?

Almost everyone over the age of 18 is suitable to have dermal fillers injected into their lips, but as briefly mentioned earlier at your consultation our team will ask you questions about your health.

If you have a blood clotting disorder, such as haemophilia, take blood thinners such as warfarin or require the frequent use of ibuprofen, there may be issues relating to bruising, so we may advise against this procedure.

If you want to have dermal fillers, but have concerns about underlying health conditions, please talk to our team and your general practitioner before proceeding with treatment.

Clear braces; your FAQs answered

Have you recently tried to obtain treatment with a clear aligner like Invisalign, only to be told you aren’t suitable? Does the idea of wearing a standard metal brace concern you?

clear-braces-w1

Luckily, there is a way that you can have the discretion of a clear aligner while also wearing orthodontic tools that can manage more complicated cases of misalignment. Welcome to the world of the Incognito or lingual brace!

At Harley Street Dental Clinic, clear braces W1 like the lingual brace are one of our most popular treatments for adults, teenagers and children alike! These discreet braces can provide you with all the power needed to realign your teeth discreetly, while also being easy to fit into everyday life. Great!

Want to know a bit more? Here, our dentist answers the most common queries that we receive about these clear braces W1, so you can ascertain if they might be right for you.

How do they work?

Clear braces W1 work in much the same way as regular braces, except they are attached to the back of the teeth.

Through tightening and adjusting, they pull the teeth into their desired positions.

Are they bulky?

These braces are made from metal and are composed of brackets and an archwire, so they may feel a bit bulky, especially as they are fitted to the inner teeth and will take space away from your tongue.

But, adapting to them is fairly quick and should not take longer than about 2 weeks.

Will they be uncomfortable to wear?

There is no such thing as a totally comfortable brace and this type of brace will need adjusting and tightening to move your teeth.

You may also have concerns surrounding how this brace will impact your tongue; after all, it is attached to the inside of the teeth, and so it will have more contact with it. The good news is that you will adapt fairly quickly to it being there and soon, you won’t even realise it is there!

If you are struggling with the placement of this brace to the extent that your dental hygiene is affected, our team may be able to offer you a different kind of brace.

How long will I need to wear them?

This type of brace is indeed more versatile with the issues it can combat with misalignments, such as more extreme cases of overbite underbite and spacing. But, along with that, it also has to be worn for longer than the standard invisible aligner.

So, when you begin wearing a lingual brace, it is likely that you will need to wear it for between 2-3 years to get the desired effects. However, as this brace is attached to the back of your teeth, it won’t be noticeable and will not cause any issues with your appearance.

Are they expensive?

OK, so we are aware that one of the main concerns adults undertaking orthodontic treatment have is the cost.

And when you come to our practice, we have a way to help. We can offer our suitable patients financing options, which can help break down the final amount due into affordable monthly repayments, so you can show off your new and improved smile worry-free. Great!

Composite bonding; FAQs answered by our team

Want to restore your smile quickly and without spending a fortune?

composite-bonding-harley-street

At Harley Street Dental Clinic, we can offer a treatment that can whiten enamel, conceal cracks, reduce sensitivity and strengthen damaged teeth all at once; composite bonding Harley Street!

Here, our team at the practice answers common questions that we receive about composite bonding Harley Street, so read on to learn more!

What is bonding?

Composite bonding Harley Street is one of the easiest and least invasive types of cosmetic dental care which is used to conceal a myriad of aesthetic issues, while also helping to prevent physical ones.

Bonding can be used to conceal cracks in the teeth, along with correcting gaps between teeth, and discolouration. It can also be used to strengthen teeth that have been weakened by fractures and can also help with issues surrounding dental sensitivity caused by microscopic holes in the enamel.

As you can see, it is very versatile!

Is it uncomfortable?

The treatment itself is not uncomfortable, so there will be no need for you to have a local anaesthetic before we begin applying the bonding.

In essence, all the treatment involves is the moulding and shaping of composite that is placed directly onto the teeth. We will use drills to achieve this, but don’t worry! The drill will not come into contact with your gums, so there will be no discomfort during the shaping of the bonding.

Can I eat after it is done?

When you have had the bonding fitted, we generally advise that you wait for around an hour so that it can settle.

This is to ensure that the composite has completely hardened and that it will not become warped or impacted by foods, which can change the shape of the coverings, meaning they would have to be redone.

When will it need to be replaced?

On average, bonding lasts 5 years, but this varies from patient to patient and is dependent on the level of care you put into maintaining the coverings and your lifestyle choices overall.

If you are a smoker, for instance, it is likely that your bondings will not last as long as they would with a non-smoker, due to gum inflammation that often accompanies smoking.

Also, when you undertake bonding, you will need to brush your teeth as usual, floss them and keep an eye out for signs of gum disease. In line with this, it is also wise to visit our team every 6 months for a check-up, so we can ensure that your bonding is not coming loose or that decay has not set in under the coverings.

Is it expensive?

Many patients have concerns that this type of cosmetic experience will be too expensive for them to afford.

However, while similar to veneers in what they do and how they are fitted, this type of dental coverage is more affordable, as it can be done in one session in our surgery and does not need any external equipment or facility, such as a laboratory that is used to create veneers.

Therefore, it is worth discussing with our team how much bonding is likely to cost and, if needed, we can even discuss financing options for you if appropriate.

Invisalign; what to expect when you begin treatment

Not sure what happens when you approach a dentist to begin treatment with an invisible aligner?

invisalign-w1

At Harley Street, we have helped many patients straighten their teeth using Invisalign W1 and can offer you advice and expertise at every stage of your realignment journey.

So, what can you expect when you begin the process of using Invisalign W1? Read on to find out!

Find a dentist

You may have read that any dentist can use Invisalign W1; this is not true and can lead to a worsening of dental issues.

It takes additional training to use this aligner and, of course, our team at Harley Street Dental has completed all of the required training (and more!) and has the experience required to use this aligner.

Smile assessment

A key part of this process is the assessment; will you be suitable to have your teeth straightened with this brand of invisible aligner or not?

And so, our team at the practice will examine the position and condition of your teeth and your gum health, before we begin the treatment process and take scans of your mouth.

Many cases of misalignment can be treated with this brand of aligner, so if you have an overbite, underbite, excess spacing or crowding, book yourself in for a smile assessment today and we will see if this aligner can help!

Prediction

One of the most amazing parts of the entire process for many patients is the prediction of the ultimate outcome.

Using the scan we take of your teeth, we can upload it onto a 3D model on a computer, and show you exactly how we predict your teeth will need to move to achieve the desired result.

This allows you to see yourself with realigned teeth before it happens, meaning there will be no unwanted surprises with the realignment process.

Aligners

With this brand of aligner you will usually be given around 14 in total, to wear in a sequential order to complete the realignment.

Even if you feel that one of the aligners is not important, you must still wear it, as it can cause your teeth to move out of the correct alignment if you don’t and could even lead to your teeth reverting to their original positions.

You can expect some minor discomfort when you switch between aligners, and to mitigate this discomfort, you should use over-the-counter pain relief such as ibuprofen. If the discomfort is excessive please see our team, as there may be an issue with the aligners fitting correctly.

Costs and other bits

OK, so when it comes to wearing invisible aligners, many patients worry that they will not be able to afford it.

However, at our clinic we can offer financing options to help you spread the cost over several months, allowing you to pay what you can afford rather than the lump sum. If this sounds like something you would be interested in applying for, please talk to our team.

There are some other bits that patients use to accompany this treatment; the use of chewies to help them fit their aligners better is becoming increasingly popular. Also, with the everyday use of the aligners, keeping them clean is important and so, it is worth exploring washes or rinses to soak the aligners in to keep them invisible, fresh and functional!

Teeth whitening; a guide to the Zoom system

teeth-whitening-harley-street

And that brings us to what you will wear, how you will have your hair and whether you want to quickly and effectively brighten your smile for the inevitable photos that accompany every party, dinner or event. You will be glad to know that at Harley Street Dental, we can help!

At our clinic, we are happy to be able to offer our patients teeth whitening Harley Street, to help you get a smile that will turn heads and allow you to feel confident at whatever social event you have planned for the coming year. Great!

Want to know a bit more about the teeth whitening Harley Street that our team uses? Read on to learn about our very popular system; Zoom!

Zoom

This is a type of teeth whitening Harley Street that can be performed both in our surgery and at home.

If you are looking for a Hollywood-esque smile, then it is worth attending our surgery and also using the at-home option.

Zoom operates by removing surface stains from the enamel, which can be caused by issues such as smoking, drinking coffee and consumption of wine. We will apply the gel to your teeth and then use a specialist light to help oxidise it, leading to the stains being lifted off from the enamel.

Depending on the severity of the stains, this process can take longer, as we may need to apply more than one coat of gel.

Zoom at home

In the two weeks that follow this, you will need to use a set of custom-fitted trays to help with the whitening of your teeth.

These trays will look physically similar to aligners and as such, you will need to wear them as directed by our team. To assist in the whitening process, you will typically apply a teardrop amount of the gel to the trays, unless our team has given directions to use more or less.

Try to keep the gel away from your gums and, should it come into contact, try to remove it immediately using a toothbrush or q tip.

When you are wearing your trays, you may notice that the gel inside them is bubbling; this is completely normal and is part of the whitening process.

Precautions

As this is a gel that you will be using in your mouth, it is important to take care to not swallow it. It can be harmful and if you do accidentally swallow it, you will need to seek urgent medical attention.

As stated earlier, this product can be damaging if it is left on the gums, so always aim to remove it as soon as it comes into contact with them.

Longevity

The results of the whitening can last from 3 months to 3 years, depending on your lifestyle and dietary choices.

With Zoom, we can reapply the product once a year, but you can maintain the effects at home with the gels and the trays.
