What options are there available?

In terms of invisible braces in Harley Street, we generally offer our patients a fixed or a removable option. Fixed aligners are made up of brackets that are glued to your teeth and connected by wires. We use these wires to pull your teeth gradually into alignment.

Removable aligners are generally clear trays which you can take out whilst you eat or for short periods of time at your choosing. You need to wear the aligners for 20 hours every day to achieve the desired results however.

Do they hurt?

They are not pain-free as you need to shift your teeth into a new position and therefore a dull ache or tooth and gum sensitivity is a common experience. The next stage is either when you change your aligners to the next set or you visit us for your wires to be tightened.

Don’t worry, this pain will die down after a few days as your teeth get used to sitting in that new position. We can inform you of pain relief methods, you can try sucking on ice cubes and eating soft foods which can help make you more comfortable.
